A Beaver Island Community School graduate, Tessa participated in the Health Occupations Students of America program, now known as Future Health Professionals, competing in State and regional skills competitions including Home Healthcare. She also attained her Certified Nursing Assistant accreditation and completed Emergency Medical Technician training, subsequently entering the pre-nursing program at North Central Michigan College.
Tessa’s eight years with BIBCO and five with Island Energies have prepared her for many of our unique Beaver Island customer challenges.

Dr. Timothy King is a board-certified pain management physician with additional certification in anesthesiology and addiction medicine. He practiced in Northwest Indiana. As a recognized expert in proper opiate prescribing practices, Dr. King now provides training, consulting and expert review services for law firms, insurance companies, and federal and state governments on administrative, civil and criminal drug diversion matters. Dr. King is a graduate (chemistry) of Indiana University and earned his MD from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his Anesthesia Residency Program at the University of Washington.
Dr.King now volunteers his services to the Health Center and is a year-round resident of Peaine Township.

Daniel Mathew Mann, MD, is a Family Practice specialist. He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1997. His family medicine residency was undertaken at the University of Minnesota Medical School from 1997 through 2000. He has been practicing family medicine for over 25 years and has been providing care at the BIRHC since 2000. On the mainland, Dr. Mann is a physician at the East Jordan Family Health Center. He also has experience in emergency/urgent care through Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital. In 2022 Dr. Mann was appointed the Rural Health Center’s Medical Director.

A Michigan native and long time member of the Beaver Island community. Dr Martin built his house on Beaver in 1994 and started full time residence in the winter of 2014. Dr Martin attended the University of Michigan for undergraduate school and then Michigan State University for Medical School. After medical school he did a one year rotating internship followed by a five year residency in Orthopedic Surgery with additional sub-specialty training in upper extremity and microvascular surgery. Dr Martin is also a certified USAF Flight Surgeon with training and experience in primary care. After over 20 years in private practice Dr Martin retired from his surgical practice but remains Board Certified and has offered his time to see patients at the BIRHC on a regular basis. Joan Matejovsky, FNP-C, Board Certified, Nurse Practitioner

Joan Matejovsky earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix (AZ) and a Masters in Science in Nursing from Spring Arbor University (MI). She has been an RN since 1988 and became a Nurse Practitioner in 2018. Joan has worked in orthopedics and neurology and has 15 years of experience in emergency rooms and urgent care. She is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACL), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support.(BLS). Her NP degree certification is from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). Ms Matejovsky, a native Michigander, has extensive work history in a variety of medical facilities, including the Coldwater (MI) Community Hospital and Cameron (IN) Memorial Hospital and was previously employed by the Health Center in 2019/20.
Ann Partridge, Managing Director

Ann Partridge joined the Health Center Team in October of 2017 as the leader of the Center’s Administrative Services Group. Prior to her appointment she worked for the Preservation Association of Beaver Island (PABI) and the Charlevoix County Commission on Aging (COA) from 2008 through 2017.
In 2021 the Center’s Managing Director stepped aside and Partridge served as Acting Managing Director for a six month period. In January 2022, after a national search, Ann Partridge was appointed by the Board to be Managing Director of the Rural Health Center.
Ann Partridge is from Grand Rapids and earned her associates degree from Grand Rapids Community College. Ms Partridge, a long standing property owner and resident of the island, resides in Peaine Township.
Nicole Leigh Shepardson, Medical Assistant/Admin Assistant

Nicole Shepardson began work as the Center’s Services Coordinator in July 2022. After starting her medical career in 1998 at the Hope Network Rehabilitation Services in Grand Rapids, Nicole Shepardson worked her way up to Residential Supervisor of Ada House (rehabilitation). In 2018 she was selected to become the Patient Services Representative for the University of Michigan Health-West at the Grandville (MI) HealthCenter. Ms. Shepardson is a graduate of Grand Valley State University and is a Michigan native.
Kim Wysocki, M.S., PA-C

Kim is a graduate of Wayne State University (Michigan) with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and a graduate of Oakland University (Michigan), where she earned a Bachelor of General Studies (Magna Cum Laude). She is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant with eleven years of practice serving patients in a variety of urban and rural areas across Michigan. A native Michigander, Kim has worked in emergency departments, surgical orthopedics and sports medicine offices, as well as urgent care facilities, spending the last two years in the Upper Peninsula.
